Reflection on a multidisciplinary case treated by Aligneurs Français
Clinical case presented by Drs Yasmine Ghedira and Selim Helali
Case study by Dr. Anthony Rosseel
Treating riziform teeth
Space opening on either side of the lateral incisors for restoration with injected composite.
Orthodontic diagnosis :
- Overbite associated with palato-version of the upper central and lateral incisors;
- Dento-dental disharmony with small upper lateral incisors;
- Fairly large anteroinferior congestion;
- Inverted premolar joint on right side and inverted canine joint on left side.
Reflection on this case Aligneurs Français
Rice-shaped teeth and invisible orthodontics
The dentist wished to create space on either side of the upper lateral incisors to restore the shape of the teeth, as they are riziform.
He therefore proposed that the patient undergo an initial orthodontic phase with the aim of creating these spaces, but also to improve overall alignment and occlusion.
To do this, he chose to treat the case with the Aligneurs Français solution.
The proposed treatment plan is a 5 to 5 treatment with expansion, stripping spread over 2 sessions and cleat fitting.
Processes :
Expansion will correct inverted right bite from premolar to premolar, as well as inverted left bite at the canine level.
Stripping corrects dental crowding.
Cleats help correct canine rotation, premolar axis correction and lower incisor ingression.
The overbite is lifted by an ingressive movement exerted by the splint on the upper incisors.
Finally, it was planned to leave 1 mm mesial and distal to each lateral incisor, so as to be able to restore 12 and 22 at a later date.
Treatment was estimated at 9 months with reassessment at the end.

Contentions :
What type of retainer will be used between the end of the orthodontic phase and the start of the prosthetic phase?
In this case, we recommend the use of a compression thread while waiting for the composite to be injected, as recurrence is very rapid.
The day the composite is injected, we can opt for a retainer.
The patient may prefer a removable appliance. In some cases, this will be more practical, as the anterior occlusion will prevent the wire from being held in place. If this is not the case, we will hold the wire in place.
